Public voices opinions about long-term growth plans

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — City leaders invited the public to talk about the next phase of their comprehensive plan, which they say will manage growth long term.

The document, created from months of public input, contains 11 sections with policies to manage and guide growth and development for the next 25 years in Wilmington.

“What’s on the posters is a very high level summary that what’s in the document,” said Christine Hughes, senior planner with the City of Wilmington. “We are really hoping people will come and say, ‘Yes we can live with that, you know we understand Wilmington is going to continue to grow and we agree with this generally’ or ‘You know what we can’t live with that and we need to go back to the drawing board on a few things.'”

The next public drop-in style meeting to review the draft document, ask questions and provide input will be held tomorrow at the Northeast Regional Library from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
