Pumpkin pie tops holiday favorites in North Carolina, HPU poll finds

(WWAY) — Pumpkin pie remains North Carolina’s favorite holiday treat, according to the latest High Point University Poll.

For the fourth consecutive year, 24% of respondents chose pumpkin pie as their top pick, keeping it in the lead over other popular options.

Pecan pie came in second, favored by 18% of North Carolinians, while sweet potato pie was close behind at 17%. Apple pie followed with 15%, rounding out the top four. Other choices, such as chocolate (9%), cherry (4%), blueberry (3%), peach (2%), and strawberry (2%) pies, garnered less enthusiasm among those who responded.

The survey, conducted online from Nov. 14 to Nov. 21, included responses from 1,000 North Carolina residents. The High Point University Survey Research Center used a panel of respondents recruited by Dynata and weighted data to reflect population estimates based on U.S. Census numbers.
