UNCW’s Raque recognized on Preseason All-CAA Team
RICHMOND, Virginia (UNCWSports.com) – UNCW senior guard Madison Raque has been named as an honorable mention selection on the 2017-18 Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Team in a vote of the league’s head coaches.
In addition, the Seahawks were picked to finish in a tie with Towson for eighth place in the league’s Predicted Order of Finish, which was released as part of the conference’s annual Media Day festivities.
Raque, the only player to start all 31 games last year, led the Seahawks in scoring with a 10.7 average last year while making 58 three-point field goals. The Louisville, Ky., product scored in double figures 16 times, including a pair of 20-point efforts. She scored a career-high 28 points in a win over Catawba after shooting 10-for-15 from the field, including an 8-for-12 effort from three-point range.
James Madison, which has won three of the last four CAA crowns, was picked as the preseason favorite to win the league title while Elon, last year’s champion, followed in second place in the Predicted Order of Finish.
