PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The 153-foot Rocky Point water tower was recently painted with the Heide Trask logo for the Titans, a sword, and underneath the logo, the words “Home of the Titans.”

The newly recognized water tank is located directly next to Pender EMS and Fire Station 7 and is a stone’s throw away from the Heide Trask High School entrance.

“Now that’s what I call a splash of school spirit! It’s more than just paint on a tower; it’s a symbol of our community coming together, rallying behind our school and our students,” stated Superintendent Dr. Brad Breedlove. “It’s a testament to our shared pride and commitment to fostering a bright future for all.”

The Rocky Point water tower is the second in the County to have a Pender County High School mascot painted on its tank. The Hampstead water tower has the Topsail High School Pirate mascot on the water tank.

“The collaboration with Pender County Schools is a great community partnership, and we are excited anytime we get the opportunity to work on a project like this that means so much to people in the community,” said Anthony Colon, Utilities Director, Pender County Utilities.

The Rocky Point tower was built in 2000. It is made of steel and holds 300,000 gallons of water.
