Seahawks host Tar Heels Wednesday night in baseball

WILMINGTON, NC (UNCW) — The Seahawks close out their regular season home schedule on Wednesday when they host nationally-ranked North Carolina in a 6 p.m. start at Brooks Field.

The game is the final installment of their annual home-and-home series which opened began on April 26 in Chapel Hill with the Tar Heels edging the Seahawks, 10-9.

The Seahawks (33-11) earned another series win in the Colonial Athletic Association last weekend when they took 2-of-3 from visiting College of Charleston. UNCW clinched a conference tournament berth over the weekend and remain the only school in the league to participate in all 31 editions of the CAA Championship Tournament.

UNC (31-17) topped visiting East Carolina, 9-1, Tuesday night in Chapel Hill and carries a record of 31-17 into Wednesday’s game. Over the weekend, the Tar Heels lost an ACC series to sixth-ranked Louisville.

Sophomore Nick Feight continues to lead the nation in runs batted in with 77 while senior Steven Linkous ignites the UNCW lineup with a conference-leading .409 batting average. Junior Daniel Stack continues to give the Seahawks power at the plate with nine home runs after homering in each game last weekend against Charleston.
