Seahawks looking for a bounce back year in 2018
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–It was a season to forget a year ago for UNCW Men’s Basketball. The first year under head coach C.B. McGrath the Seahawks went just 11-21 overall and missed out on the NCAA tournament.
There’s a reason to be excited for Seahawks fans headed into the 2018-2019 and that starts with senior Devontae Cacok. Last season Cacok was the nations leader at rebounding with over 13 a game. This season he has already been named to the preseason All-CAA first team, but now he will joined in the front court by FAU transfer Jeantal Cylla.
“You know them making the tournament, regular season Champions, it is just a winning culture here. I just want to continue to make that happen and be apart of that,”said Cylla.
With the preseason being interrupted by Hurricane Florence, the start of the regular season has came up quickly on the Seahawks. They will begin their season with an exhibition game against the Clemson Tigers at Trask Coliseum on Saturday, October 27th to benefit those impacted by Hurricane Florence.
UNCW will have a tough start to their schedule playing multiple bigger Division I schools, but they are not worried.
“We want to beat these teams. We can play with anyone no matter who it is. That is something we want to prove against this year coming in with Stanford, Clemson, and UNC,”said senior Devontae Cacok.
The game against Clemson on the 27th will tip-off 5:00 P.M. from Trask Coliseum.
