Second otter daughter leaves the nest at NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher

FORT FISHER, NC (WWAY) — Another Asian small-clawed otter has left the nest at the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
Selene is now at the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium. Her sister, Mae, was transported to Florida last fall.
With their departure, Stella is the only one of the triples born in 2022 remaining at the Aquarium. Her parents and younger siblings still remain.
“This family and these three sisters have been so much fun for visitors to get to know and while we are always sad to see one of them go, it is something we were anticipating. She is at a good home at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium,” said Shannon Anderson, lead otter keeper.
Visitors can still peek in on the family of six in the larger habitat at the Aquarium and their neighbors, Asta and Ray, a mother-son duo in the smaller habitat.
