Second suspect charged in interstate vehicle shootings

LEXINGTON, SC (AP) — A second man faces attempted murder charges after cars travelling on Interstate 20 last week were the targets for gunmen on an overhead bridge.

Lexington County sheriff’s deputies said Sunday that 22-year-old Brandon Coleman of Batesburg was charged with seven counts of attempted murder. Investigators say he fired several shots from a pistol at eastbound I-20 traffic as he stood on the Quattlebaum Road bridge early Wednesday.

Deputies say seven people were in the three vehicles struck by bullets.

Coleman was held in the Lexington County Detention Center after a judge denied bond Sunday.

A Batesburg 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday and also charged with seven counts of attempted murder.
