Security more ‘vigilant’ during holiday season at ILM

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Many of you flying out of town to visit family or friends this holiday season shouldn’t see any abnormal delays at ILM, according to Deputy Airport Director Gary Broughton.

He says Thanksgiving is the busiest airport holiday of the year with crowds increasing Tuesday through Sunday this week.

He says parking should not be an issue, but keep in mind more people will be traveling so you may have to deal with longer than usual lines.

“You’ll see more vigilance as a result of what is going on around world so the lines might be a little longer at times,” said Broughton. “We recommend you get to the airport an hour and a half before your scheduled departure.”

ILM also offers and recommends enrolling in TSA Pre-Check especially if you are a frequent flyer.

The Pre-Check will get through security check points quicker.

Broughton says if you will be traveling with gifts make sure they are kept unwrapped.
