Shallotte man arrested for attempted murder

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Shallotte man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Maxwell Erick Collins, 36,  tried to kill a woman on Saturday. The sheriff’s office says that Collins shot into a home in Shallotte, broke in shoved the woman into a wall and fired a shot at her.

The sheriff’s office adds that a 12-year-old was there when it happened.

He is charged with:

  • Felony Attempted First Degree Murder
  • Felony Break/Enter to Terrorize/Injure
  • Felony Dispatched Weapon into Occupied Dwelling.
  • Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
  • Misdemeanor Assault With a Deadly Weapon with a Minor Present
  • Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property

Collins was not given a bond.
