Shoppers take on the crowds to get the best deals on Black Friday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With Thanksgiving over, the time for holiday shopping is here with many starting on Black Friday to take advantage of the best deals possible.

Hundreds of shoppers were out taking on the crowds at Mayfaire Town Center. Many shops opened earlier than their traditional hours to let customers in to take advantage of discounted deals. Some locations were so busy they had a limit as to how many customers were let inside at one time.

“I am out here shopping for Christmas gifts and I’m taking advantage of some good sales,” said Lisa Arakelain, a Mayfaire shopper.

“Yes, I’ve found my jeans. They’re usually $180, but they were $120, so I think that’s a good idea,” Heather Whitmarsh, another local shopper at Mayfaire.

Some shoppers did say that while Black Friday shopping in person is not as popular as it use to be, it is still fun to get out and enjoy themselves
