Shuckin’ Good Times: NC Oyster Festival

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) –Locals in Ocean Isle Beach gathered for a delightful celebration at the two-day NC Oyster Festival held in Town Center Park.

The event was filled with fun, great weather, and, of course, plenty of oysters!

Festival-goers were treated to live entertainment on the main stage, while a variety of vendors and small businesses showcased their offerings inside the festival grounds.

Attendees could relax with a cold beer and enjoy oysters from local establishments over by Pelican’s Perch Bar and Grill.

The festival featured exciting oyster shucking competitions, games, and a wide array of food, drawing in crowds eager to partake in the festivities.

Local residents William and Dalton shared their thoughts on what keeps them coming back year after year. “Oysters are a seasonal food, so whenever they get harvested, they are nice and fresh. You can taste the difference, so heck yeah, the water is nice; it just cooled down, so people are coming out—they can taste the difference. And not everyone is crazy about oysters like that because they are kind of weird in their own way, but the food, the people—we love the art.”
