Snowy owl makes rare winter visit to southern Outer Banks

OUTER BANKS, NC (WWAY) — A biologist at the Cape Lookout National Seashore captured quite the sight this week of a rare winter visitor.

Jon Altman shared photos online of a snowy owl that appeared along the South Core Banks.

It could be seen blending in with a sand dune.

Altman snapped a few shots of the animal before it flew away.
