Southport 4th of July Festival to be virtual this year
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina 4th of July Festival in Southport was cancelled earlier this year because of the Coronavirus. Instead of having no festivities, however, the 2020 Festival Committee is sponsoring a series of Facebook events instead.
From July 2 through 4 look for activities that also celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement which led to women’s right to vote.
Look for online events such as a Suffrage Challenge, Flag Raising Ceremony, a Naturalization Presentation, and a Reading of the Declaration of Independence. On July 4th, instead of a live parade you can see parades of the past.
4th of July apparel will be available at area merchants.
