Southport-Fort Fisher ferry to run modified schedule Friday for film production

Southport, NC (WWAY) — The Southport-Fort Fisher ferry route will operate on a one-boat schedule Friday to accommodate filming at the Southport terminal, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Film crews are scheduled to shoot scenes aboard the M/V Fort Fisher, one of the two ferries typically assigned to the route. As a result, service will be reduced during midday, off-peak hours.

The ferry will maintain its regular fall schedule during commuter peak times but shift to a modified schedule mid-morning through mid-afternoon.

On Friday, the schedule will be:

  • Southport to Fort Fisher: 5:30 a.m., 7 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 6:15 p.m.
  • Fort Fisher to Southport: 6:15 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:45 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m.

The two-boat schedule will resume Saturday beginning with the 5:30 a.m. departure.
