WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Not every athlete was able to make it to the Olympics in Paris, but one local sports league was able to give some residents something to compete for.

Sport City Rec hosted its Social Olympics at Hi-Wire Brewing on Saturday. Dozens of teams competed in several different games such as balloon toss, cornhole, beer pong and more. Sport City Rec is a recreational sports league that aims to connect people through sports in a social environment. Teams were judged on their performance and how fast they were able to complete certain games.

Co-owner Clark Shea said his favorite part of events like these is connecting people with one another.

“So far its the social aspect. A bunch of people meeting new people, that’s what Sport City is kind of all about. We do adult social sports in Wilmington, so we do kickball, wiffle ball cornhole; and this is kind of a one day event to kind of bring all those different people that play in different leagues together.”
