Spot Festival carries on despite the rain

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Spot Festival carried on throughout the rainy weekend.

Folks in Hampstead braved the wet weather for a chance to get some delicious fried spot.

Festival Chairman, Lynn Lanier, said the drive through dinner option was a lot more popular this year. Folks could get their food brought right to them in their cars and didn’t have to worry about getting wet.

Lanier said a little rain will never shut the festival down.

“It has hurt dramatically, but 52 years it has not been cancelled and it’s not going to be cancelled on my watch,” said Lanier.

He adds that yesterday, when the rain was lighter, people got a chance to enjoy some of the bounce houses and live concerts the festival is known for. They even held their annual fireworks show, despite the weather.
