State of Emergency: Four lives lost during winter storm
WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT/WNCN) — At least four people lost their lives during a snowstorm that brought inches of snow to eastern parts of the state.
Officers said the vehicle was submerged for some time when they found it.
They retrieved the vehicle from the canal where they found Dax Christopher Baker, 20, of Surf City dead inside.
Detectives believe the winter weather was a contributing factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
Beaufort County Emergency Services also responded to a fatal accident early Thursday morning.
Authorities believe the accident was caused by the winter weather road conditions.
Authorities responded to the accident at 2:30 a.m. on a rural road north of Washington.
The accident involved a single driver and vehicle.
