Straight into Wilmington: Ice Cube to play Azalea Festival Saturday concert

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Rapper Ice Cube is coming to the east side for the 2019 NC Azalea Festival in Wilmington.

The iconic artist will play the festival’s mainstage in downtown Wilmington on Saturday, April 6.

The 49-year-old, who has also made his mark as an actor, director and producer, broke onto the music scene in the mid-1980s as part of the group N.W.A., perhaps best known for the hit album “Straight Outta Compton.”

In the early ’90s, as his solo career took off, Ice Cube also made a name for himself on the silver screen starring in the movie “Boyz n the Hood.” He later wrote and starred in “Friday.”

Ice Cube marks the last of the Azalea Festival’s three downtown concerts to be announced. Country singer Tyler Farr will play on Thursday, April 4, while country legend Hank Williams Jr. will bring his rowdy friends to the main stage on Friday, April 5.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9 a.m. for $40. Starting March 21, the price goes up to $50. Click here to purchase.
