Strong second half leads Laney girls soccer past South Brunswick

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–The Laney girls soccer team scored four goals in the span of 15 minutes during the second half Monday night to take down South Brunswick in Mideastern Conference play, 5-2.

Sara Smith and Sarah Diener led the Buccaneers offensively in the win, both players finished with two goals apiece.

It was a big night for South Brunswick goalie Hunter Pender. She finished with 16 saves in the loss for the Cougars.

The win improves Laney’s record to now (3-1), while South Brunswick drops to (3-1). The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday against Ashley. The Buccaneers continue their homestand on Wednesday night hosting the North Brunswick Scorpions.
