Strong second half leads Northeastern past UNCW men’s basketball
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–In the first half on Thursday night it looked like UNCW men’s basketball was going to snap their five game losing streak, as they held the 11 point lead over Northeastern. That didn’t end up being the case.
The Huskies outscored the Seahawks by 15 in the second half to pull off the slim 81-77 win. It was a great night offensively for junior Jeantal Cylla. He chipped in a team-high 19 points to go along with six rebounds. Kai Toews recorded another double-double in the loss with 17 points and 10 board.
It was a balanced scoring effort from Northeastern in the win. Jordan Roland led four Huskies in double figures with 19 points.
The loss drops UNCW’s record to now just 8-19 overall and 4-10 in the CAA. The Seahawks will try to send their seniors out of Trask with a win on Saturday night, when they host conference leading Hofstra.
