PEARL HARBOR, HI (WWAY) — The submarine USS North Carolina returned to port Wednesday after a seven-month deployment.

The vessel arrived to its homeport of Pearl Harbor around 7:00 p.m. eastern time, being met on the pier by family and friends of crew members.

The submarine was deployed in the western Pacific Ocean in July, supporting missions of the US 7th Fleet.

A ceremony was held in Wilmington in May of 2008 to commission the fourth US Navy ship named after North Carolina.
