‘Successful first day’ open at Express Y

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — YMCA members were excited about getting back into the grove as the Express Y officially opened their doors today in Wilmington.

After a fire in February, the Wilmington YMCA is finally back in action.

Curtis Campbell has been a member of the YMCA for 20 years and is glad to have the gym back up and running.

“It’s a lot bigger than people expected and the equipment is all brand new, but I think the best thing is to meet the YMCA family back together again, says Campbell. We really do have a great bond among the people and the members.”

YMCA Officials say the refurbishment of the old facility on Market Street is still in development and that plans should be into the board by September.
