Summer Showdown promises high energy action in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The United Pro Wrestling Association is holding it’s 15th Anniversary show Saturday in Wilmington as a drive-in experience for fans!

Owner Donald Brower says the show is a “culmination of lots of hard work.  It is a coming together of wrestlers and fans to forget the troubles of the world for a few hours.”

Because of Covid-19 restrictions, the event this year will be held outdoors at Wilmington’s Cardinal Lanes on Shipyard Boulevard.  Brower says fans will watch from their cars and outside while observing safe social distancing.  Face coverings are encouraged.

At the event all titles will be defended and a highligt is the Heavyweight Title.  New champion Victor Andrews will be up against Timothy Zybysko.  Also look for Cruiserweight champion Joe Harrison in a 6-pack challenge against five former champs.

Stay for the Hall of Fame ceremony honoring champions Christopher McKenzie, James “The Beast” Beasley, The Amazing Velvet and a special surprise induction.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m., the Hall of Fame ceremony is at 7:00, and belltime is 7:30 p.m..
