Suspect arrested in Christmas Eve home invasion that killed alleged accomplice

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man who investigators say got away from a home invasion where another suspect died is now behind bars.

Rashiem Darnell Mooring, 25, is charged with attempted murder and robbery.

Investigators say Mooring and Hakim Hanifah forced their way into a home on Silver Lake Road in New Hanover County Christmas Eve. They exchanged gunfire with the homeowner, who shot and killed Hanifah.

Detectives say Mooring ran from the scene.
