Suspect charged after reportedly stabbing man with pen

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is charged with reportedly stabbing another man with a pen and then pushing his daughter this weekend.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around 8:00 Saturday night at a wild life boat ramp on Trail’s End Road. Lieutenant Jerry Brewer said two men got into an argument and then supposedly one of the men, Clayton Pridgen, stabbed the other man with an ink pen.

Brewer said the victim tried running away, but Pridgen chased him and started punching him. Brewer said at one point the victim’s daughter tried to break up the fight and that is when Pridgen pushed her down.

Deputies charged Pridgen with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries and assault on a female. He was placed on a $5,000 bond, but he bonded out.
