Teen hopes to meet Taylor Swift after video goes viral locally

CAROLINA SHORES, NC (WWAY) — A video of a Brunswick County teen’s birthday surprise is going viral in our area.

But now, Chrissie Agic and her family are hoping the video of her reaction to opening Taylor Swift concert tickets is shared enough to make it to the pop star.

Like any typical teenager Chrissie knows all the lyrics to “Blank Space.” But the teen is not your typical 14-year-old girl.

“Chrissie is my miracle baby. I was told I was never going to be able to have a child,” said her mother Krystal Agic. “She was born with a genetic disorder called incontinentia pigmenti which is a disorder that affects your nervous system, eyes, hair, teeth, and finger nails.”

Chrissie was also born with a skull fracture which caused her brain to bleed.

“Her birthdays are a really big deal for me and her dad to celebrate her life,” said Krystal.

To celebrate this year the Agics wanted to surprise Chrissie with something she thought she had missed out on  months ago. When Swift’s 1989 Tour came to Raleigh, Chrissie wasn’t able to go.

“She was like ‘I’ve got to go. I’ve missed it.’ I could just see– I was like ‘Oh she missed it,’ ” said Krystal.

Determined to have her daughter in the crowd when Swift preforms in Greensboro, Krystal put a handful of balloons in a box with hot pink note cards on the ends of the strings. In the bunch, there was one balloon with concert tickets tied to the end of the string.

“She was attracted to the bright ones. She read all of the bright ones first. Then it hit her,” said Krystal.

And just like that, Chrissie had the blank space in her schedule filled.

“She isn’t like the other singers,” said Chrissie.

For the teenager, Swift is more than a musician, she’s an inspiration.

“She’s a great song writer,” said the 14-year-old.

Swift captivates the teen with not only her style, but with lyrics which her mom says speak to her. “Shake It Off” is one song that rings true to Chrissie’s experiences.

“That song has helped her realize that even though you are different, embrace it,” said Krystal.

Now Chrissie and the rest of her family’s goal is to have the video shared enough for Swift to see it. Then, just maybe, Chrissie will be able to meet her when she goes to see her in concert in October.
