Thousands gather to the Cape Fear Festival of Trees at the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher
FORT FISHER (WWAY) — If you want to take a walk through a winter wonderland while also meeting some friends from the sea, the festival of trees is the place to be.
At the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Festival of Trees is taking place once again. Guests can experience the aquarium as well as walk through 50 decorated Christmas trees with various themes. This year’s tree decorations range from military, sweets such as chocolate and cookies, as well as a pink Barbie tree. NC Aquarium Communications Manager Dey Rossell says it’s a great way to spread holiday cheer and an important message.
“Our mission is to inspire appreciation and conservation of our aquatic environment. So, what a majestic way for people to come through and see our beautiful habitats light up with these beautiful trees next to them.”
Rossell said they expect to see about 45,000 people for the Festival of Trees. It runs until January 1st and you need to reserve tickets beforehand.
