Tidal Creek Food Co-op discusses a possible new location
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tidal Creek Food Co-op hosted an open community forum Saturday evening to discuss the possibility of a new store location in downtown Wilmington.
Tidal Creek’s only location is currently on Oleander drive, but a number of factors have prompted the co-op to seriously consider opening a store in Wilmington’s historic downtown district.
General Manager Jason Blake-Beach says a store downtown would just be a good fit.
“We have to make sure we are making the best business decisions that continue to allow us to continue to be true to who we are and provide the greatest value and that’s the biggest reason we are having this dialogue and investigating the downtown area,” says Blake-Beach.
There are many reasons Tidal Creek is considering a downtown Wilmington location which include the opportunity to help service an area that doesn’t have USDA food options available, the relative affordability of store space, and the fact many Co-op owners are already local to greater downtown.
Blake-Beach noted that there is no set time frame in terms of a move downtown, nor have they reached a decision on what might happen to the Oleander location should a downtown site be found.
