Topsail advances with sweep over Wake Forest

HAMPSTEAD, N.C. (WWAY) — Coming off a first round bye, Topsail volleyball used the rest well as they swept Wake Forest at home in the Class 7A playoffs on Tuesday.

The set scores were 25-15, 25-9, 25-22.

Valentina Bugnatto led the Pirates with nine kills. Sarah Cutler had two blocks while Anna Pullinger added three aces to lead Topsail in each of those categories.

“It was nice to have a break,” Cutler said. “We had a tough week last week, but we were able to get some practices in and really just come back strong. If we really just play as a team and pass well and hit well, then it really just all comes together for us. That’s all we really need to focus on and being good teammates.”

The Pirates will stay at home for round three when they face Chapel Hill on Thursday.
