WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Due to inclement weather this weekend, the Town of Wrightsville Beach has made preparations ahead of the storm.

The Town has:

  • Moved blue beach trash barrels back from the dunes
  • Temporarily removed some benches on the beach
  • Picked up yellow rescue tubes
  • Placing sand in front of the old fire station

Residents and business owners may fill their own sandbags if needed. Sand can be used to protect property and entrances from flooding, reduce water intrusion during high tides, and help safeguard low-lying areas around homes or businesses. The Town is providing this sand as a precautionary measure so the community can take proactive steps to minimize flood impacts.

The Town of Wrightsville says to remain patient and avoid flooded streets. Once the tide recedes, water levels will drop quickly.

They say that king tides are also creating steep beach escarpments, so please use caution and access the beach safely via Access 2, East Salisbury Street, the North End, or the South End. Expect increased rip current risks and rough surf conditions.
