Traffic stop leads to pot bust

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Burgaw Police say a traffic stop last night ended up as a drug bust.

Police say they stopped Larry Dale Edwards, 48, of Sneads Ferry, late last night for traffic violations and smelled marijuana. They say Edwards turned over a small amount of pot, but further investigation revealed almost five pounds of marijuana in the car, along with paraphernalia and nearly $500 in cash.

Edwards is charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana; maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance; possession of paraphernalia. Police are working to get get warrants for more drug crimes, they say.

Edwards is in the the Pender County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond.
