Cleanups held around New Hanover County Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear River Watch organized the annual New Hanover County Keep America Beautiful Cleanup on Saturday.

Volunteers from the community joined in to help keep our county clean. The cleanups took place at Greenfield Lake, Wrightsville Beach, Fort Fisher, and several other locations around New Hanover County.

Cape Fear River Watch Executive Director Frank Yelverton said, “There are two goals. One is to pick up as much trash as we can and our second goal is public awareness to let people know litter is not welcomed.”

More than 40 people volunteered their time at Greenfield Lake to pick up trash in and around the lake.
