Trequan Bellamy scores four times in blowout

TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — Our player of the week tour stops again in Tabor City, this time it’s the runningback Trequan Bellamy.

“Thank you for voting for me,” Bellamy said. “It feels good because it was my first time. I ‘ve never had this and it feels great.”

You know what else feels great? Scoring 4 touchdowns and helping lead his Stallions to yet another win, bringing South Columbus to 6-0 on the year.

“I just came out and played hard,” Bellamy said. “I knew that the line would block, so I just had to come out and finish. I give credit to my offensive line. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have been able to score that many.”

3 of those touchdowns came thanks to the offensive line. The other one was all Trequan.

“He looked at the receiver the whole time and he didn’t look to run,” Bellamy said. “So he just looked at one receiver and I read him, picked the ball off and ran.”

Making big time plays is nothing new for Trequan. He has carved himself a spot as a favorite for the Three Rivers Conference MVP through just six games. His finesse and power style is something he takes from backs like Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy. Also like them, his love for football came at a young age.

“When I was younger, I didn’t really like to stay around the house so I asked my mom to sign me up for sports and since then, I’ve loved playing football.” Bellamy said.

The season is far from over, but Trequan has this team on the right track, as long as they keep it focused on a few key things.

“Just everybody come together and play,” Bellamy said. “Play for each other and play hard.”

Congratulations once again to Trequan Bellamy on being named our 5th Quarter Player of the Week.
