Tuesday offering chance to see Wallops rocket launch, Sturgeon full moon

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tuesday will offer a rare chance to see a rocket launch and full moon on the same night.

A launch at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia is scheduled for 8:31 p.m. (weather permitting) and will be visible as a glow in the Cape Fear sky around 120 to 150 seconds after launch.

The rocket is helping resupply the International Space Station.

A short time later, the first full moon of August (coined the Sturgeon moon) is set to rise at 8:42 p.m.
