Tuesday’s east finals playoff roundup: Hoggard, Topsail, West Columbus and Whiteville


RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — On Tuesday the Hoggard Vikings had the lead against Panther Creek, but the Vikings weren’t able to hold on. As a result, Panther Creek will advance to the 4-A East Finals for girls soccer.  Click the icon above for our game highlights featuring Hoggard.

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — The Whiteville girls soccer team came within an eyelash of advancing to the 1-A state finals for girls soccer, but Raleigh Charter defeated Whiteville 2-1 on Tuesday in overtime. Mia Shelley scored the lone Wolfpack goal.

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Tuesday’s 1-A state playoff baseball game between Whiteville and West Columbus was expected to be a pitcher’s duel, and it was. Whiteville shutout West Columbus 1-0 in game 1 of a best of 3 series. Whiteville moves onto the state championship series next week if they can close out the series on Thursday in Cerro Gordo. GREENSBORO, NC (WWAY) – Northern Guilford defeated Topsail 11-2 in game 1 of a best of 3 softball series on Tuesday. Northern Guilford will move onto the state championship for 3-A softball if they’re able to beat Topsail on Wednesday night in Hampstead.
