Two men travel hundreds of miles to repair chainsaws in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Florence was destructive in bringing down tons of trees and residents are ready to get back in action to restore the community.

Two men with 20+ years of experience in chainsaw chain sharpening jumped to action as soon as they heard Florence was headed to the Carolinas.

John Dilworth says he kissed his wife goodbye and hopped on a plane in Illinois to head here.

“When you utilize a chain saw especially from a hurricane disaster there is a lot of dirt and debris that you are going to be getting into that is embedded into the trees,” said Dilworth. “One split second will dull a chain so once the chains dull you are no longer producing wood chips and that’s when you should stop.”

Their truck has been to New Jersey, Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi, Texas and will stay in North Carolina until they help as many people as they can.
