Two new faces to join Wilmington City Council

NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — In Wilmington, Mayor Bill Saffo won a record-setting ninth term in office Tuesday night after running unopposed. That means, the biggest race in the Port City was for city council, where three seats were up for grabs.
One current councilman was re-elected, while another was not. Kevin Spears came in third place, which was enough to retain his seat on city council. Neil Anderson came in fourth, meaning he will leave office when his term ends.
The two people joining Spears on city council are newcomers David Joyner and Salette Andrews. But, these votes are unofficial until they are canvassed.
