Two people arrested in ‘Rainbow Row’ area of Columbus County, drugs seized

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Two people were arrested Monday following an investigation in Columbus County.
Columbus County Narcotic Detectives conducted a targeted operation on the notorious “Rainbow Row” in response to numerous citizen complaints regarding drug-related activities in the area.
Augusta Sharee Huggins was wanted on outstanding charges stemming from a prior investigation, including felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Marijuana, felony Maintaining of a Dwelling/Vehicle/Place for Drug Purposes, and felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, all dating back to August 2023. He was arrested Monday afternoon.
Huggins now faces additional charges, including Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Cocaine, Marijuana, MDMA, Methamphetamine, and various controlled substances, as well as Maintaining a Dwelling for Drug Purposes and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Huggins was transported to the Columbus County Detention Center, where he was held on a secured bond of $45,000.
Joshua Tekel Hendren attempted to run from the house, according to the Sheriff’s Office. They say Hendren was arrested with a firearm in his possession.
Hendren, already a felon, was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Resisting a Public Officer. Additionally, Hendren had an outstanding probation violation warrant. He was transported to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where he was assigned a total bond of $40,500.
