Two women charged after alleged $1.5 million theft from cement plant

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two women are scheduled to make their first court appearances Monday after authorities accused them of stealing more than $1.5 million worth of wiring from a cement plant, according to court records.

Court records show that 45-year-old Kerri Torres and 39-year-old Jordan Distefano were arrested after allegedly breaking into the CEMEX cement plant on Saturday and stealing nonferrous metal valued at approximately $1.5 million.

Both women face multiple charges, including felony breaking, injuring property to obtain nonferrous metal, felony conspiracy, and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing, according to court records.

Torres and Distefano are scheduled to appear in court on Monday for their first appearances.
