Ty Moss leads Wolfpack in all-purpose yards in win
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — We had all-time high vote totals this week for our Player of the Week. That player is Ty Moss of Whiteville High School.
In our biggest voting week ever, it’s our second member of the Pack who brings home the Week Five Player of the Week.
“It feels great,” Moss said. “I have a great community and a great family. I know my family helped me out a lot and my teammates are great. They’re just great, I love them.”
Mr. Do It All for the Pack really did it all last week in the huge blowout victory for Whiteville. He had 7 carries for 97 yards, 11/12 with 201 yards in the air and 4 scores. all leading up to a 40-0 shutout over East Columbus.
“The week before I had three interceptions,” Moss said. “I felt kind of upset and I watched film repeatedly over and over everyday.”
The film study worked out for Moss. He also studies film on a quarterback in the college ranks that has a very similar play style to his game.
“I really like Lamar Jackson,” Moss said. “I really like the way he plays. He’s a really good passer and he can run the ball well. I don’t know, his craftiness. I like the way he plays in general.”
Sports have always been part of Moss’ life. His dad is a basketball and football coach, which has allowed Moss to take his play on the court and take it to the football field in one particular way.
“Being aggressive, my aggressiveness,” Moss said. “At times I can be lazy but other times I can be aggressive. Very aggressive.”
The season, like his career, is still young for this sophomore star. While some build themselves on what’s ahead and focus too much on the future, Moss has a different mindset when it comes to the future.
“The future?” Moss asked. “I’m not really sure yet, I just want to see how it goes. This season I want to win a state championship and definitely get back in this conference. We want to at least try to tie it up. East lost last week so we have to beat South and try to tie it up.”
We will see if this do it all athlete and his team can bring home another state championship to Whiteville.
Congratulations to you Ty Moss on being named our Fifth Quarter Player of the Week.
Moss and the Pack will host South Robeson Friday in Whiteville. You can see those highlights and meet our new playmakers this Friday only on the 5th quarter on WWAY.
