Officials: No evidence of gunman at UNC

CHAPEL HILL, NC (AP) — The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill says a search by campus police determined there was not an armed person at a facility near the campus.

The school issued a statement Friday afternoon saying UNC Police conducted a thorough search and reviewed security video from the Ambulatory Care Center just west of the campus, but found no evidence of a gunman.

A statement from the school said it is investigating to determine whether there was any individual at the care center with a gun.

A bullet found at the scene was determined to have belonged to an officer responding to the scene.
