UNCW baseball finishes season sweep of NC State

For the second time this season, the Seahawks topped the Wolfpack 5-4

WILMIGNTON, N.C. (WWAY) – A 3-run 6th inning propelled the Seahawks over the Wolfpack.  Trevor Marsh‘s two-out double to the centerfield wall scored Tanner Thach with the go-ahead run in the 10th inning as 22nd-ranked UNCW topped 20th-ranked NC State, 5-4, to complete a sweep of the home-and-home series on Tuesday at Doak Field.

UNCW improves to 29-16 on the season. That’s their third win over a ranked opponent this year. It was also the first win in Raleigh since 2011.

Luke Craig earned the win with four innings on work, only giving up a lone hit. He’s now 4-0 on the year.

UNCW resumes conference play this weekend when Coach Hood’s alma mater, Campell, comes to town for the first time as a member of the CAA. First pitch Friday is at 6 pm.
