UNCW baseball media day 2024

"We're excited and ready for another CAA title," said Head Coach Randy Hood

WILMIGNTON, N.C. (WWAY) – On Monday, the UNCW Seahawks unofficially kicked off the 2024 baseball season with media day at the E. Marvin Johnson Training Facility.

UNCW is coming off a CAA regular and postseason championship and a NCAA regional bid, when the team went winless in Conway, SC against #24 Duke and #8 Coastal Carolina by a combined score of 25-5. Even though the team won 34 games, they felt there was more to accomplish.

The team returns more than a handful of all CAA players, specifically GS third baseman Jac Croom and sophomore first baseman Tanner Thach, who were some of the best hitters in the entire conference. With 15 additions of transfers and freshman, head coach Randy Hood says to expect to see some of them contributing immediately.

The season officially begins next Friday for the season opener against Kent State at 4pm. There is also an intrasquad scrimmage Tuesday. Both will be at Brooks Field.

This story will be updated with more information and quotes from players.
