UNCW Baseball moving on from Matt Williams as pitching coach

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Following a birth in the NCAA Tournament and a conference championship title, the UNCW Baseball team announced they will not be bringing back Matt Williams as the team’s pitching coach.

Williams spent 5 seasons with the Seahawk program, but the school announced today they are moving in a different direction and have discontinued Williams’ appointment.

During his time at UNCW, 16 pitchers have been drafted to the MLB, including four this season in Alex Royalty, Austin Warren, Austin Easter and Clark Cota.

The UNCW pitching staff produced the third ranked group in the CAA based on ERA and featured two All-Rookie team members and one first team All-CAA nod.
