WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — UNCW has officially extended the contract of head men’s basketball coach Takayo Siddle through the 2030-2031 season.

Siddle had previously confirmed his new contract on March 8, after a quarterfinals loss to Campbell in the CAA tournament.

He is expected to earn one million dollars a year under the frameworks of his new contract, a $150,000 raise from his previous contract.

Additionally, his contract has been extended by one year, now expiring on April 14, 2031.

For contract years 7 through 11, Siddle’s base salary is $300,000. The salary will be paid in 12 equal monthly installments with normal tax and benefit withholdings.

Siddle will then receive $700,000 in supplemental compensation on top of his salary.

According to the addendum, the supplemental compensation is contingent on his continued service as the head men’s basketball coach at UNCW, as well as the absence of any NCAA or CAA investigations.

If Siddle is fired without cause, he will receive the supplemental income that was originally expected through his termination date.

Supplemental compensation will stop if he is terminated for cause, is unable to perform essential functions, resigns or dies.

The addendum modifies earlier agreements and addenda from March 13, 2020, April 21, 2022, April 27, 2023, and March 26, 2025.

The extension is not effective until the university’s board of trustees approves it.
