UNCW extends contract for men’s soccer coach Aidan Heaney

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger has announced the extension of men’s soccer head coach Aidan Heaney’s contract through June of 2028.
“Coach Heaney has done a tremendous job leading our program and we’re looking forward to him continuing to have success both on and off the pitch,” said Oblinger.
The Seahawks made their fourth Coastal Athletic Association championship game appearance this fall, all coming under the direction of Heaney, who recently completed his 24th season at the lead. UNCW has posted a record of 208-177-58 during his tenure.
UNCW opened with wins over third-seeded Monmouth and second-seeded Drexel, before falling 1-0 in the finals to Hofstra.
“I am delighted to be signing a contract extension to lead the UNCW Men’s Soccer program!” said Heaney. “I appreciate Michael Oblinger and our administration’s support for me to continue to drive our program to even greater heights – in the classroom, on the pitch and in our community. I could not do this without our outstanding staff: Lewis Dunne, Teig Lesko, Cisco Tomasino, Graham Joseph, and Brad Moore. I have spent the better part of my life at the helm of the Seahawks and am excited and energized for the future!”
