UNCW mens basketball looks to protect their court on homecoming weekend
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–There was some good and some bad for UNCW mens basketball as they started their four game home stand last weekend.
The Seahawks fell at home last Saturday to the Elon Phoenix 89-82 to slip to 8-14 overall, but now a familiar face will visit Trask. UNCW will start their second half of their CAA schedule when they host Towson on Thursday night.
It was UNCW pulling out the 67-61 win on the road the last time the two school met in Maryland. The Seahawks and Towson are separated by just one game in the conference standings. UNCW is 4-5 in the CAA, while Towson sits at 3-6 and 7-15 overall.
Thursday night kicks off the homecoming weekend celebration for UNCW with bigger than normal crowds expected, but the Seahawks say not much will change from a game standpoint.
“It doesn’t necessarily change our preparation at all. You know just being back to back games, not having to travel anywhere, people having to travel to us. It’s always an advantage,” said UNCW head coach C.B. McGrath.
The Seahawks and Tigers tip-off at 7:00 P.M. Thursday night from Trask Coliseum.
