UNCW men’s hoops looks to snap five game losing streak in final home stand

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–The struggles on the road continued for UNCW men’s basketball this past weekend. The Seahawks fell on the road to Drexel on Thursday by 12, that loss was followed up by a four point defeat at the hands of Delaware.

UNCW hopes returning back to Trask this weekend will wash away their woes. It is the final home stand of the season for the Seahawks, with games against the conferences top teams in Northeastern and Hofstra.

It will end home the careers of five UNCW seniors; Devontae Cacok, Shaw O’Connell, Daniel Etoroma, and Trey Kalina.

“I am looking forward to having that last game here in Wilmington and trying to give it everything I got. I want to show the fans and the city of Wilmington that I’m glad that I have been here for the last four years,”said UNCW senior Devonate Cacok.

The Seahawks currently sit in 8th place in the CAA standings with just a few weeks left to go in the regular season. The home stand starts on Thursday night with UNCW and Northeastern. The last time these two played Northeastern came out with the 88-71 win in Boston.

“I hope we play better these next couple of games. They are going to be big games in the conference for us, we need to get on the winning side. It is not going to be easy, but it can be done,”said UNCW men’s basketball head coach C.B. McGrath.

UNCW and Northeastern will tip-off at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday night from Trask Coliseum.
