UNCW secures first CAA win at home against Monmouth

Seahawks got big spark from sophomore center Khamari McGriff to lead the team to a 69-56 victory

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – The Seahawks are back in the win column having secured the first CAA win of the 2023-24 season.

Thursday, UNCW defeated Monmouth 69-56. The game was not pretty to watch: UNCW shot 19-52 from the field and 5-24 from deep while their opponent Monmouth mustered 18-52 from the field and 8-25 from behind the arc.

It was a much-needed win for the Seahawks, who had just dropped three games in a row, dating back to the Arkansas loss in December. Now 1-2 in the CAA, the Seahawks will be back at home Sunday.
